Single-use pads and industrial produced tampons are a highly unmonitored, unregulated industry. The manufacturers do not require full transparency of all ingredients, especially the ones including chemicals used in the processing. People who menstruate use between 5,000 to 11,000 tampons in their lifetime. With bleached cotton wrapped in plastic, with plastic applicators and plastic strings, Tampons are not biodegradable and end up in the landfill. Pads incorporate even more plastic. All these materials sit in our landfills for hundreds of years.

The planet has been suffering for a long time. Our period underwear are absorbent and washable, which means one pair can replace boxes of tampons. This will significantly reduce period-related plastic use. One less tampon used, is an impact on preserving the environment that lasts hundreds of years.
